Class 58 Co-Co Diesel-Electric Locomotive, No 58004 in Mainline triple grey livery. All new model from Heljan, with a powerful 5-pole motor and heavy die-cast chassis. Model will run over curved track down to a minimum radius of 15 inches (385mm). With bi-directional working lights and sprung buffers. DCC Ready. The class 58 was designed at Derby to a completely new concept (for BR), of modular construction. Built at BRELL Doncaster, 58001 was completed in December 1982 in the then new livery of Railfreight grey with red sole bar. Production finished with 58050 which entered traffic in March 1987. Mostly associated with MGR coal workings, based for most of their life at Toton depot in Nottinghamshire. All the class are currently in store, although as we close for press I understand the class may yet see further use in Europe. A number of extra parts are also provided for the purchaser to fit, to improve authenticity, if so wished.
