To mark the 40th aaniversary of British steam hauled passenger services on British Railways , Hornby are producing a special Limited Edition run of the two black 5 locomotives used on the 'Fifteen Guinea Special' run on the 11th August 1968. Each will come in a special commemorative box with a run of just 1004 of each.. Model features a five pole skew wound loco drive motor, articulated coupling rods, sprung buffers and is DCC ready. Designed by Sir William Stanier, the class was introduced in 1934 with a total of 842 in service. Hornby, West Country Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and tender, 34006 ''Bude'' in British Railways lined malachite green livery with '' British Railways '' to the Stanier tender. Model has 5 pole skew wound loco drive motor, sprung buffers, DCC ready, brake rods and other detail. Loco will negotiate Hornby 2nd radius (438mm) curves. During the locomotive trials of 1948 the then fledging British Railways Board experimented with different locomotives to see how they performed on tracks outside their normal region. Part of the trials was to try different combinations of locomotives and tenders which resulted in the classic pairing of Bulleids West Country 'Bude' and a Stanier Tender. To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of not only the locomotive trials but the formation of British Railways, 2008 limited edition models of 'Bude' coupled to a Stanier tender, complete with numbered certificate have been specially prepared and are presented in a commemorative pack. Hornby, A4 class 4-6-2 locomotive and tender, number 4468 "Mallard", locomotive is in LNER blue livery and is complete with full Valances.A Limited Edition model, to celebrate the world Steam speed record 70th Anninversary, with exterior metal parts plated in 18ct Gold, comes in a special pack. The model features sprung buffers, fixed rear wheel assembly, NEM couplings, five pole skew wound loco drive motor, cab and tender detail and is DCC ready. The locomotive was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and first entered service in 1935. Eventually there were 35 built, it was designed for express passenger work.
