Hornby, From the Transcontinental Range this is a RS2 Switcher Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive, No. 3000 in "CN" black and orange livery. It is in excellent condition, there is a couple of marks to the white lining along the running plate. One of the coupling hooks has been bent but been straightened out. One of the cab windows to the nose end of the loco has suffered slight damage. It comes in an original box which is condition B-, it would be a lot better but it is missing one entire end flap.
Price: £45.00 / $85.05

Hornby, Class A3 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.60052 "Prince Palatine" in British Railways express passenger lined blue livery with the early lion-over-wheel emblem to the Great Northern tender which has a coal rail. This model was in train set that was released in 2006 and this example has been split from the set. It is in unused condition - I would grade it as B+ to A-. It's a lovely model. It's the DCC-ready, loco-drive version with sprung buffers and extra detailing. It comes in the box that was in the set box. Box condition is B+. It comes with instructions, unused detailing parts.

Hornby, BR Merchant Navy (Rebuilt) Bulleid Pacific 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.35012 "United States Lines" in British Railways lined green livery with the later style emblem to the tender. This model has been split from the Hornby special set that was first released in 2003. I understand that about 5,100 of these models were made, making this one relatively hard to find. As new (unused) condition is easily A-. It comes in part of its original box that would come from the set. There is a packet of unused detailing parts and instructions.
Price: £89.00 / $168.21

Hornby, Live Steam A4 Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 4468 "Mallard". Loco is finished in LNER garter blue livery. The loco has a double chimney. The tender is the corridor variant and the model is running with full valances. This engine was released as part of the mallard light steam set which was first released in 2003. This has been split from the set. I understand it has been steamed on just one occasion. It is clean, tidy and without marks and probably a cheap introduction into live steam in OO gauge. It is in its inner tray only, the rest of the packaging is missing.
Price: £120.00 / $226.80

Hornby Railways, Class 47/7 Co-Co Diesel Electric Type 4 Locomotive, No. 47711 "Greyfriars Bobby". Loco is finished in "Scotrail" grey livery and looks very attractive indeed. Model has been lightly used, it is in good clean collectable condition, I would grade it as a B to B+. It comes in a reasonably tidy box which is B to B+.

Hornby, 0-4-0 Diesel Shunter Locomotive, No. D2428 in British Railways green livery with latest style emblem to the body side. The model has seen little or no use, it is clean and tidy, sharp and clean. The only point I would raise is the handrails have slightly discoloured. Model is condition B+ in a B to B+ box. It comes with a set of instructions. However the box is marked up for 874 where it should be 875.
Price: £29.00 / $54.81

Hornby, M7 Class 0-4-4 Tank Locomotive, No. 245 in lined "Southern" green livery. This is a fine example of this popular locomotive. It comes with an opening smoke box door, and fire box glow! all the lining and lettering is intact. It is a slightly gloss finish and looks very pretty. It has been used, one ot two handling marks, nothing serious, the only real point I would raise, is one of the steps is missing and the inner tray from the box is missing. Condition is B to B+ in a nice original B to B+ box.
Price: £59.00 / $111.51

The model has an opening smoke box door. This variant does not have the fire box glow. This example appears to be either test run or unused, very nice condition, very sharp and clean, easily an A-. It comes in an original Hornby box with a set of instructions and unused detailing parts.

Looks very attractive. There is a slight rub to the lining on both cylinder covers, but nothing more than a nick. The rest of the lining is in good condition. The loco has been used, but it is very tidy and unmarked. Condition is B+. Box condition is B, very slight fading to one end.

Hornby, British Railways Stanier Black 5 Class 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No. 45192 "Ayrshire Romanry". Loco is finished in British Railways mixed traffic lined black livery, the tender carrying the later style BR emblem. This was from the silver seal range of loco's with the lift off lid box style. The model comes with a set of instructions and further transfers for renaming and renumbering the loco. This example is in nice sharp clean condition. Looking at the wheels I would say the loco has been test run only, they are bright and sharp and the traction tyres show no wear at all. It is a good example, condition is B+ or better in a B+ or better box.

Hornby, Class 86 Bo-Bo AC Overhead Electric Locomotive, No. 86401 in Network South East blue livery. The model has been used quite heavily, it has lost its pantograph but all the fixings are on the roof apart from that there is no damage. The model is relatively clean, a little bit of perhaps light weathering to the buffers at one end. Unfortunately the buffers are missing at the other. Condition is B-. Box condition is C+, it is missing one entire end.

Hornby, Ivatt Class 2MT Mogul 2-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No.46400 in British Railways part-lined black livery with the later style BR emblem to the tender. The model has seen some use, but is tidy and attractive. Even though there is a new Bachmann version of the loco, I still rather like this Hornby model. Condition is a good B to B+. Comes in an original box, which is very tatty - the cellophane has gone and one of the end flaps is completely missing. A nice model.

Hornby, A3 Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.4472 "Flying Scotsman" in LNER lined gloss green livery with single chimney and banjo dome. The tender is the corridor type with the 'chuff-chuff' exhaust steam sound. The model is in great condition - as far as I can tell none of the lining is damaged. Easily a crisp B+. The original box is showing signs of fading and is a little worn - condition is only B.

Hornby, Great Western Railway Class 29XX St. 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No. 2920 "St. David". Locomotive is finished in "Great Western" lined green livery. It was made briefly in 1986 and 1987 only this example. Model has seen very little use, I am guessing it has only been test run. Very attractive. Susceptible to wear to the cylinder covers because they protrude out slightly but this example is in perfect condition. I would grade it as a good B+to A-. It comes in an original box with , set of instructions dated 1987 and a further leaflet on Zero 1.

Hornby, Stephenson's Rocket Train Pack. Released by Hornby for the third and final time in 1982 in this pack, which contains the 0-2-2 Locomotive and Tender "Rocket" and three Liverpool and Manchester Railway coaches, "Despatch", "Experience" and "Times". The three coaches are in yellow and black, as is the locomotive. Not a great many were made, with a total of only 12,000 or so being produced in this distinctive packaging, which is in the form of a book with an opening flap. The contents appear to have been test-run only, and are in lovely, unmarked condition. I would grade the loco and coaches as A-. Comes with instructions. The box has seen some wear, intact but a little worn . Condition B

Hornby, Class 35 Hymek Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive, in CIE orange and black livery. Made in two batches, in 1977 and 1981, this example does not have pick-ups on the non-powered bogie - so I guess it's one from the early batch. It does not have the CIE stickers on the nose, but it does have a headcode at one end, 1A20, which is quite bizarre. There's some paint loss to the black colouring to the nose at both ends and there's also a bit of paint loss to the roof. Still, an interesting model. Overall condition is B- to B. It's in a non-original box.

Hornby, GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No.25555 "Lord Westwood" in special lined red livery. Released for a short period from 1973 to 1975, the model was a bit of an in-joke really: Lord Westwood was one of the directors of the Hornby company during the 1970s and 25555 was the telephone number of Hornby at Margate. The model is in pristine condition and has not been used, or if it has it is hard to tell. A superb example - the best I've encountered. I would grade its condition as A-, it would be perfect apart from a very slight mark on the front buffer beam where perhaps the vacuum pipe was once attached. Comes in an original box, which is in not-too-bad condition. There is a slight tear to the top of the box, but the overall condition is a good B or better. Comes with original instructions dated 1974.

Hornby, RS2 Switcher Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive, No.T336 in Victoria Railways blue livery which is lined in yellow. Manufactured by Hornby in 1976 for the Australian market, this is a really nice clean example of this locomotive which is very hard to find these days. There's a slight rub to one of the linings around one of the running numbers and a couple of little nicks to the lining around the nose, but that's about it. General condition is B, possibly B+. Loco is unboxed.

Hornby Railways, Caledonian Single 4-2-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 14010 in LMS lined maroon livery. This is a model which was released for a single year in 1983 in very clean condition with no rubs or damage. If it has been used it has only been very lightly used. Condition is a nice crisp B to B+. The packaging is quite unique I think only the 2 tender the Flying Scotsman and the Rocket Set have similar style window boxes. This one comes in a special presentation box. Condition of the model is B to B+. Box condition is B- to B, it is intact but a bit tatty around the edges.

Hornby, GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No.5934 "Kneller Hall" in 'Great Western' lined green livery. Looking at the wheels, I would say that the model has probably been test-run only - they are mostly shiny so it has seen very little running. The only point I would raise is that there is very slight wear to the white paint on the handrails in one area, but looking at it I would think that this is a factory issue. The rest of the engine is pretty much pristine - and the same goes for the tender. I would grade the model as B+ to A. Box condition is B to B+.

It is in test run only condition, crisp and clean as if it was made yesterday. The lining to the cylinder covers is intact which is a point of wear on these models. Model is B+ to A-. It comes in the 1970's style box with the engineering drawing style lid. Condition of box would be B to B+ but there are two small tears to the top of the box. The loco supports its special bell to the front buffer beam and looking at the wheels I would suggest this model has never been on a track. The model has had its motion weathered - although it is not the best weathering job I have encountered. It's a handsome loco nonetheless. It has been used and is a little on the dusty side, but I'm sure it would clean up. It has also had lamps and crew fitted, all of which have subsequently been removed, leaving glue residues. Hornby, Caledonian Single 4-2-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.123 in Caledonian Railway gloss blue livery. Built by Nielson & Co in 1886, this has always been a popular model from Triang and then later Hornby. This is a well-used example. It has the four steps intact and there's no damage. But there are handling marks and would probably benefit from a gentle cleaning. Condition is a good B. Box condition is a reasonable B also. Comes with an original set of instructions dated 1972, which makes this very early Hornby.

This model was made between 1972 and 1973 so it is just conceivable it could have dropped into the Tri-ang Hornby period as well as the Hornby. This is a bright clean example, it is complete with cow catcher and fuel tank. It appears to be mark free, nice and bright colouring, I would grade it as a B to B+. It is however unboxed.

Hornby, LMS Patriot Class 4-6-0 Locomotive and Tender, No.5541 "Duke of Sutherland" in LMS lined maroon livery. This model has had a hard life. It is missing one of the front steps and at least two of the other steps have been knocked off and glued back on at some point. There is one lamp on the front buffer beam and there was another lamp but this is missing. And there's something going on around the chimney - it appears to be rippled there so I think it has been over-painted perhaps. There is rust on some of the wheels and the loco and tender are dusty. Condition is B-. Comes in a non-original box.

Hornby, Gresley A4 Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 6006 "Sir Ralph Wedgewood". Loco is in British Railways lined green livery. The tender which is a none corridor type carries the later style BR emblem. The loco has a twin chimney fitted. The model has been used although the wheels are still relatively shiny. A metal footplate extension plate has been fitted which could probably do to be painted, it is in the brass colour. The loco has had vacuum pipes and screw link couplings fitted which look good, the same with the tender. The only point I would raise is one of the plastic clips that hold the handrail of has broken, not difficult to replace. Overall condition is B to B+ in a none original box.

The loco is running without valances and has a double chimney and carries the speed record plaque. The model is in good condition, looking at the wheels I would guess it probably hasn't been used. It may well however been on display, there are no marks or any damage but the handrails are showing slight signs of discolouration. Overall condition is B to B+. It comes with a set of instructions and the original box is in good condition, it has faded at one end and there is a tear to one side where a label has been removed.

Hornby, Princess Royal Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 6201 "Princess Elizabeth". Loco is in LMS lined maroon livery. This is one of the later princess models before it was retooled. It comes with a set of instructions dated 18th April 1974. It is fitted with a steam exhaust sound tender and it is fitted also with a smoke unit. It is a lovely example. While it has been used the wheels are still relatively shiny,, the model itself has a slight gloss finish to it and looks crisp and clean. Perhaps the only point I would raise is on the smoke box door one of the hinges is showing a little bit of base colour showing through. The tender is in the same condition of the loco, it is a good example. It comes in an original box which is condition B. It is the style of box which would have had an outer cardboard sleeve, this one does but the sleeve is in tatters.

Hornby, BR Class 91 set, comprising Power Car, non-powered Trailer Car, and a pair of BR Mk4 Tourist Open Coaches. All these four items are pre-production models. Particularly interesting are the two coaches, which have see-through roofs and end panels. They are known as 'crystal' models, modelled with see-through panels so that the engineers can check for fit during the later stages of production. The power car does have a motor in it, but it doesn't appear to be wired up. Likewise there are no detailing parts fitted to any of these vehicles. They are, however, all glazed. Each chassis is stamped 'Built in Britain' which helps to date them - to around the late 1980s I would guess. There are a couple of marks here and there to the bodies, but this is more to do with handling than anything resembling damage. It's a unique opportunity to acquire something that doesn't come along very often, which is pre-production items from the factory. Overall condition is B to B+. The set is unboxed.

Hornby, Stanier Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.46239 "City if Chester" in British Railways lined green express passenger blue livery with the early lion-over-wheel emblem to the tender. This model has been liberated from a set, which I believe was R775 'The Caledonian'. Judging by the wheels, the model has had very little use. It has had the crew fitted to the footplate and the figures have been painted to a high standard and look particularly good. The glazing in the cab window has been removed - to make the crew visible, I imagine. Overall condition is B to B+. Comes in a non-original box.

All vehicles are in British Railways lined green livery with small yellow warning panels to the power and trailer cars and coach-style BR roundels to the coach sides. The headcode panels read A7. The vehicles are unboxed, however they are clean and tidy. And as far as I can see there are no marks or rubs and all the lining is intact, which is particularly prone to wear. On closer inspection I would say that the trailer car is possibly from a different batch to the power car, as the yellow warning panel is brighter - it could even have been over-painted. Overall, condition is a good B to B+.

It has seen very little use, it is clean, tidy and a really delightful example. The only point I would raise is in my opinion the door hinges on the smoke box door have been picked out in silver as have the buffers and also the back head detail. I think it was originally a black locomotive, any black which has been repainted in green. It is not so bad, the lining looks a bit wishy washy but the rest of the loco from a distance doesn't look too too bad, a bit on the grubby side. I would grade it as a B-.
