Mainline, Service Workshop. A very interesting item. This is a Service Workshop box, issued by Mainline to their dealers who carried out repairs. It comprises a cardboard box with a Mainline Railways logo, stating 'It's in the detail that makes the difference' and then in large letters 'Service Workshop'. The inner box comprises 26 compartments, all of which apart from one, contain spare parts. These include gear wheels with their correct part number on the plastic bags in which they are contained (such as G394), screws, armatures, springs, wheels, motion parts, traction tyres, brushes, brush springs, and all sorts of other bits and pieces. There are also two screwdrivers (bladed and Philips) in their own compartments. This is the only one of these I have seen - and I don't know how many were actually provided although I understand it was 20 or fewer. Also included are some A4 and A3 sized replacement part kit drawings - there's an A3 fold-out sheet for the Peak loco listing all the parts and their part numbers and gear sizes etc, and A4 sheets for the J72 and Class 4MT locos. There are also a couple of other instruction sheets, probably from locos. A fascinating piece of history from Mainline. Condition of all the contents, which are undisturbed in their plastic bags, is A. Box condition is B to B+, in very nice condition.
