Wrenn Railways W2227Wrenn Railways W2227 Ref: WR100571
Wrenn, Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.6254 "City of Stoke on Trent" in LMS straw-lined black livery. This is a nice, tidy example of this popular loco. There are no marks or rubs to the decals or lining. There are a couple of small chips to the paintwork on both sides of the loco's front step area and some very slight rubbing to the paint at the rear where it makes contact with the tender, which is normal. The tender is actually the wrong tender for this loco, as it has the earlier plastic wheels which means it comes from an earlier loco - and not this one, which has the metal-wheeled front bogie. The model has been used but is in fine overall B to B+ condition. Box condition is B. It is a 'period 3' box and has 'Packer No. 2 00236 stamped on the bottom. The inner box is stamped with the name and address of a previous owner.
Price: £110.00 / $194.70

Wrenn, Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.46245 "City of London" in British Railways part-lined maroon livery with the later style BR emblem to the tender. The model is tidy - all the lining and decals are in good unmarked condition. The paint finish has a bit of a sheen to it, which means it is a slightly later model. It has a 3-pole motor. The tender unfortunately has not fared anywhere near as well as the loco, although the wheels are relatively clean. The rear coupling is missing its hook and it looks like there is a small amount of paint loss to the bottom of the tender side on the right-hand side near the rear, with base colour showing through - there are several little dots of about 1mm each. There's also a little rubbing at the top of one of the tender sides where it creases over. Tender condition is B- to B. Loco condition is B to B+. Comes in a 'period 4' box, with 'Packer No.6' to the bottom. Also comes with alternative couplings and instructions.
Price: £145.00 / $256.65

Wrenn, Stanier Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 6254 "City of Stoke on Trent". Locomotive is in LMS lined black livery. It is a period 3 model. It has been used, first impressions are of a tidy model with one very small nick to the lining on one of the cylinder covers but with that exception the model is chip free. It is a good example, B+. The tender is the same condition, the only problem with the model is the rear coupling on the tender is crushed and as it is riveted it might be slightly problematical to change, if possible it might have to be drilled out. The model comes in a period 3 box which is stamped Packer No. 3. The box lid is showing signs of wear around the corners. I would grade it as a B.

Wrenn, Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.46229 "Duchess of Hamilton" in British Railways part-lined passenger maroon livery with the later style emblem to the tender. This is a bit of a curate's egg. It comes in a Triang Wrenn box, without the W prefix, and the loco itself has been re-named, re-numbered and re-painted. The work has been done to a high standard and looks extremely nice. Detail has been added, including vac pipes and lamps to the buffer beam. The handrails have been painted black and lining has been added. The overall result is excellent. It has full backhead detail and added crew. It could well be that the box is correct because the pony wheels are of black plastic, which means that it is a Triang Wrenn version. Condition is B+. Box condition is B-, showing signs of wear and with some damage to the top.

Wrenn, Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.46242 "City of Glasgow" in British Railways express passenger blue livery with the early lion-over-wheel emblem to the tender. This a very good example of this popular Wrenn loco in what looks to me to be in test-run condition only. It is chip-free and both the loco and tender are in the same crisp and bright B+ to A- condition. Comes in a 'period 4' box, which is in nice B to B+ condition. The lower box is stamped 'Packer no.6' Comes with instructions and one alternative coupling. A good example, all round.

Wrenn, Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.46235 "City of Birmingham" in British Railways lined green livery with the later style BR emblem to the tender. This is a 'period 4' model and has seen very little use - the wheels are shiny and the loco is completely chip-free with no marks to the lining. A very nice example indeed. The tender is also chip-free with no marks to the lining, although there are a couple of little marks on one side which can be seen when it is held against the light - but this does not detract from a really excellent model. Comes in 'period 4' box with 'Packer No.6' to the bottom, and with alternative couplings and instructions. This version of the loco has the smaller driving wheels. Condition grades?

Wrenn, Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No. 6229 "Duchess of Hamilton". Locomotive is finished in LMS lined black livery. It is the version that runs without smoke deflectors and is fitted with a double chimney. Made from 1977 to 1986. This example is in fine clean condition, the wheels are bright and shiny. Showing only very small signs of use. The loco is chip free. There is one or two marks to the tender however, not quite as crisp as the loco. There is a small rub just above the lining, the lining is in fact intact completely on both sides and on the other side there is a couple of pin prick marks. It is quite possibly they will polish out I am not entirely sure. I would grade the loco as a good B+ and the tender as a B to B+. It comes in an original period 3 box complete with a set of original instructions. The only issue with the loco is one of the nameplates the one that you can see in the photograph is worn. The lettering has worn away on the bottom half of the word Hamilton. Included with the model are two brass Duchess of Hamilton nameplates which if wanted could be fitted. Box condition is a good B.

Wrenn, Coronation Duchess Class 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.6254 "City of Stoke on Trent" in LMS lined black livery. The model has seen some reasonable use and is slightly dusty, although I'm sure this would clean up quite easily. There are one or two chips - to the front steps and the edge of the cab roof - but that's about it. Apart from that, it is clean and tidy. The tender is missing its rear coupling and the tender wheels are plastic, which makes me think the chassis may have been replaced at some point as all the wheels on the loco are metal. Overall condition is B to B+. The box is a 'period 3' version and is stamped 'Packer no.2 00236' making the loco a 1980 model. Box condition is a reasonable B.
