Wrenn, Streamlined Coronation Class Pacific 4-6-2 Locomotive and Tender, No.6244 "King George VI" in LMS gold-lined maroon livery. Model comes in a 'period 4' box stamped 'Packer No.2 09438'. This is a slightly curious model - I've had a few of these and they've all been slightly different. This one comes on a chassis that has definitely been used - the wheels are a little on the dirty side. It has a centre flange wheel of the larger type. There are one or two gaps in the gold lining here and there, but the overall effect is good - it's pleasing to look at. The lining on these is notoriously bad and I've yet to see a perfect one. My main concern is that the handrail on the right-hand side is missing and the left-hand rail on the left-hand side is also missing, but even more curious is the holes for the handrails have only been half drilled out. I'm not sure what the story of this loco is - whether it was something that was half finished at the factory and then finished off subsequently, or whether it left the factory like this. The only other point to raise is that one of the buffers has broken off, but it is in the box and would be easy to re-attach. Condition is B to B+. Model comes in a late issue 'period 4' box, complete with instructions and a further set of special instructions relating to the Streamlined Pacifics. Box condition is B+. Something has been spilt across the edge of the box and has spattered it slightly, but it might clean off.
