Brand new model from Murphy's with the following special features: 5 Pole Double Flywheel Motor Driving 4 Axles with All Wheel Pick Up Operational Directional Head/Marker Lights Easy Access On/Off Switch Underneath for Red Lights 21 Pin DCC Ready with High Quality Speaker Installed NEM Pockets & Accessory Pack Including Filler Piece for Front Valance/ Fairing Detailed Cab Interior. By the early 1990s, the locomotives operating passenger services in Ireland were becoming increasingly obsolete, with the newest type in service being the 071 Class introduced in 1976. The economic boom in Ireland in the mid 1990s allowed Iarnród Éireann to begin significant investment in the infrastructure of the railways, which began with an order for 34 brand new express locomotives from GM-EMD. IÉ ordered 32 of the new locomotives, with Northern Ireland Railways purchasing the other 2. The first were delivered in 1994, with deliveries continuing until 1995.

To allow clearance tests and driver training to commence in advance of the delivery of the main order of 201s, it was decided to transport the first locomotive, number 201, to Dublin by air. An Antonov An-124 was used to transport the locomotive from London, Ontario to Dublin Airport, arriving on 9 June 1994. The first light-engine test run operated from Inchicore works to Kildare on the 14th ,

The Murphy Models plaque and two acknowledgement plaques which are on the prototype have been replicated on the model too with working headlights ( which can be turned off for double heading ) DCC ready ( 21 Pin socket) There will be only 500 models made of this variant. Locomotive 141 is the first of the double-ended locomotives produced by the Electro Motive Division of General Motors in 1962 and is of national and international importance. The locomotive has just been taken out of regular service, and ran its first preservation trip working in multiple with sister 142 in February 2010..
