Railwayana, a Station Sign, "Waiting & Ladies Room", measuring 610mm by 460mm. It is a fully-flanged enamelled sign and is finished in deep-lustre maroon, denoting that it came from the London Midland region of British Railways. The flange is 15mm deep. The sign has had a couple of small repairs in the manner of touch-ups and there are a couple of small dents around the edge. But the overall impression is of a bright, glossy sign. Condition is B+.

Railwayana, Illuminated Advertising Sign, which came from a travel agent's just outside Bradford Foster Square railway station in West Yorkshire. The sign would have hung in a shop window. It is 100cms long by 7cms wide by 7cms high. There are two metal brackets attached to the top, to which chains would have been attached. It is made from what appears to be Perspex. The sign has the BR double arrow logo followed by 'British Rail Agent' and then in smaller lettering underneath 'Tickets and Reservations at Station Prices InterCity Sleepers Motorail Golden Rail Sealink and SeaSpeed'. The larger words are white on red, and the smaller words are white on blue. The sign is illuminated and is in working order. It comes with an extension cable. The end pieces are made from black plastic. There are marks to the sign here and there - it's been used obviously over a period of years, so it is not in pristine condition - but there's nothing specific to point out. Overall, it's a very collectable item. I would describe its condition as a good B to B+.

NB. I don't believe this item would travel very well, so I would recommend collection only.

Railwayana, Illuminated Advertising Sign, which measures 56cms by 48cms by 15cms deep. This is an exterior sign, so it is weather proof. It comprises two halves, which are screwed together with a rubber seal. On the side of the sign is a large heavy-duty metal bracket that would have been bolted or screwed to the exterior wall. The sign came from a travel agent's just outside Bradford Foster Square railway station in West Yorkshire (all of which has since been demolished - the station not the county). The sign is in operational condition and comes with a mains lead. It is actually quite rare, because the fact that it was bolted to the wall meant that the whole sign had to be dismantled in order to remove it - and this was not easy when they were being taken down, so they were frequently just smashed off the wall. Hence, there are so few of them around.

NB. It's possible to ship in the post, but I am reluctant to because of the possibility of incurring damage. So if this item is of interest, please phone the office to discuss further.

Railwayana, London and North Eastern Railway Map of London, showing goods cartage boundary for collection and delivery of traffic. Also goods and coal depots, receiving offices, passenger stations and postal districts. It's hard to date it accurately. The map itself is paper and it's in colour. There have been Sellotape repairs to the folding creases and they would need to be carefully removed really to stop it from being damaged. The spine is coming apart slightly. Overall it's in fine usable condition and I would grade it as B-.

Railwayana, Carriage Route Map, circa 1994, from InterCity East Coast Ltd 'The routes of Britain'. It's a piece of Melamine-covered board with a rail map of the UK, with the principal East Coast routes picked out in yellow. It would have been carried on either on a HST or in a Mk4 carriage in the vestibule area. It's approximately 58cms x 40cms. The main colour is blue. The condition is very good - I would grade it as B+.

Railwayana, Vehicle Leasing Plate "Porterbrook this vehicle belongs to Porterbrook Leasing Company Ltd". It's an alloy plate that has been brushed on the top side and embossed with the Porterbrook logo. Would probably have been carried on a carriage - I'm not sure that it would have come from a loco, but if it had of been it would probably have been one of the electrics. Overall condition is a reasonable B. There are signs on the back of it having been glued to a surface.

It's maroon on white, showing the principal InterCity routes of the UK. It's in fabulous condition. It has been carried. Condition is B+. It would have been removed from the vestibule area of a carriage, possibly on the West Coast Main Line or maybe from the cross-country HSTs.

Railwayana, List of Stations and Map of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway dated 1939 Derby. A very useful item listing all the stations, as it does, throughout the LMS. There are actually four maps - sheet 1, sheet 2, sheet 3 and sheet 4, splitting the country into segments. They are in a little pocket to the rear of the book, all are complete and all are in nice condition. A lovely item. There is an ink stain to the front cover and a little bit of wear to the spine, but overall it's a nice item. It's a softback.
