The C class Metro-Vic's were ordered in 1954 as part of an order of Co-Co ( A Class ) & Bo-Bo ( C Class) locomotives. Most were in service by 1958 in the original livery of aluminium-silver with red buffer beam. Some of the class went into a plain green livery after 1958. In 1961 the fleet started to be repainted in the very distinctive black, golden brown and white livery, this became the standard livery until 1964 when plain black was introduced. Between 1968 & 1971 the majority of the class were rebuilt with GM power plants, reverting to the earlier black & orange livery. Most of the classwas withdrawn by the end of the 1980's. A With a hand finished and spray painted resin body, this model is fitted to a new Lima or Hornby modified chassis.
