This model represents the rebuilt Locomotive with a number of detail differences. A With a hand finished and spray painted resin body, this model is fitted to a new Lima or Hornby modified chassis. In these days of mass production it's refreshing to find a product designed and made by an individual and a subject that might not be commercially viable for the large volume manufactures made in very limited runs of perhaps 50 or less. The A class Metro-Vic's were ordered in 1954 as part of an order of Co-Co ( A Class ) & Bo-Bo ( C Class) locomotives. Most were in service by 1956 in the original livery of aluminium-silver with red buffer beam. Some of the class went into a plain green livery after 1958. In 1961 the fleet of 60 A class Co-Co's started to be repainted in the very distinctive black, golden brown and white livery, this became the standard livery until 1964 when plain black was introduced. Between 1968 & 1971 the majority of the class were rebuilt with GM power plants, reverting to the earlier black & orange livery. The class soldered on until the last survivor was withdrawn in 1995. A number have been saved for preservation. Please note. there is VAT included in this price, for our oversea's non EEC customers VAT will be deducted
