A lifelong railway enthusiast from a young age, having received my first 'ABC' in 1961 aged 4! Travelled thousands of miles the length and breadth of the country in the late 60's and early 70's, visited (officially and unofficially!) all but a few of the BR motive power depots and workshops.

Many of these visits were made as a member of the Northern Counties Transport  Society, previously known as the Buckley Wells Railway Enthusiasts, when whole weekends were spent 'shed-bashing'  - who could forget visiting sheds such as Toton, Stratford, Gateshead, Polmadie, Cardiff Canton and Old Oak Common.  I still have some of my original 45 years old 'Locoshed' books, neatly underlined with the engines spotted, but that's an enthusiast  for you!  Great memories of steam, Black 5's, 8F's and 9F's around South Manchester, Stockport and Crewe and railrovers in the early 70's when whole weeks were spent travelling and spotting (night and day!), these were pre-HST days when all express trains were still loco-hauled so spent many a happy hour spotting the likes of Peaks, Class 40's, 47's, Warships, Hymeks, Westerns and Deltics.  Good times.

Keen modeller and collector over the years, particularly interested in all things Gresley and Bulleid including the Great Northern Kings Cross - Doncaster Mainline and the Ex Southern Railway Mainline to the West (Basingstoke , Exeter).  My own layout  - best described as a permanent work in progress!

I have been fascinated by models since childhood, having grown up in the 'golden era' of Boys Toys, of Hornby, Corgi and Dinky, Scalextric, Meccano and so on. This has stayed with me all of my life, at various times collecting, modelling, building and so on.

My working life took me into the Computing Industry, and this interest in Technology crossed over into the Model Railway world, buying one of the early Lenz DCC systems, and this has continued with other Digital Systems from Hornby, Fleischmann, Bachmann, and Roco to name a few!

I started my own business in 2003 building up a thriving Model business initially in Warwick, and latterly in Nuneaton, which became part of the MyHobbyStore Retail Group, alongside Modelfair.
