Originally selling vanity products, in 1899 Carlisle merged the company with a competitor run by a master carver, Henry G. Bachmann, and his son, Walter J. Bachmann. Over the years, the company diversified their range of products and started manufacturing a wide range of modelling products, with Model Railroading proving the most rewarding.The Bachmann Branchline range specifically for the UK was launched in 1990.
