Heljan 4005 Type 4 Co-Co prototype diesel locomotive, No D0260 'Lion' in the highly unusual white livery lined in gold!.This all new Heljan Model has a powerful 5-pole motor (12 Volts DC) and Heavy Die-cast chassis which is DCC Ready ( Takes an 8 Pin Chip) with working Taillights and headcode lights- Headcode numerals come pre fitted. , Lion, which was built in 1962 at the BRCW works in the Midlands, was constructed as a private prototype in the hope of garnering orders from British Railways. The loco saw test running over the Devon banks and the ECML. The locomotive suffered a number of power plant problems which saw it returned to the BRCW works in 1963. The company was in financial difficulty and with the order for type 4 loco's going to Brush, the decision was taken to scrap Lion after an unbelievable working life of only 18 months.
